Backlog blog

For the first project we started since choosing our pathways, which in this case is Fine Art, we had to create a large piece inspired by Richard Serra's "Verb List Compilation: Actions to Relate to Oneself" 1967. We were asked to take an image and enlarge it onto two sheets of wallpaper and from there we were given a variety of different instructions to follow to slowly layer up this piece.

This is the beginning of my piece, I enlarged a picture of two eyes and a pattern of lines using charcoal which I then smudged.

We were then told we could do what we liked to our pieces, with mine I wanted it to become more expressive because the piece appeared to be far too refined than it should be. I wanted it to appear spontaneous rather than overthought.

This is the final result.
